WELCOME
Thank you for visiting my website. I am a freelance photographer based in Thousand Oaks, California. I created this website to share some of my favorite photographs and celebrate the art of photography. To me photography involves more than just creating an image. With a photograph you are capturing a moment in time. The camera might freeze the action of a person--a so-called "decisive moment"--or it might record a wonderful display of nature. The photographer's challenge is to convey the sights, sounds, smells and feelings of our rich three-dimensional world using photography's two-dimensional medium. What fun!
I also hope this website will stimulate a discussion about the creative process of photography. What makes a good photograph? What brings an image to life or makes it compelling? There are certainly some basic photographic principles that apply but photography is an emotional process as well. That is where the art comes in. To explore these aspects of photography I have created a separate page titled Field Notes. In Field Notes I might address technical issues, such as camera settings and special equipment, or simply tell the "story" of a particular photograph.
I have separated my photographs into three galleries--Landscapes, Travel, and Nature & Art. These photographs have meaning to me, beyond the image on the screen. I hope that some of them will strike a responsive chord based on your own experiences. Thanks again for stopping by. Enjoy exploring the world through my mind's eye and camera!

You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.
